More often than not, the protagonists in Nakamura’s stories are gods, mythological creatures, some he or she or heshe whose head, guts, and marrow a swirl with life determined by society and /or the characters natural environment. The juxtaposition of ancient and modern (even futuristic) in his work is not incongruous at all, but a fair mirror of what he senses around and inside of himself. Aside from the work, one very interesting thing emerges – Nakamura’s popularity within a modern technological culture. Perhaps the more digital a society becomes, the more it longs for primitive imagery.
