Patrick McGilligan

Patrick McGilligan, aka “The Lethargic Artist,” is a California-based artist known for his work on the windows of the Santa Monica VIDIOTS video rental store. He is a self-taught artist.

McGilligan depicts characters from the depths of popular culture and his own personal narrative. He references classic monster and horror movies from his childhood including Japanese and American staples such as Godzilla and the Creature from the Black Lagoon. McGilligan uses these icons as an entry point, delving into a futuristic realm of science fiction – an alternate reality inhabited by strange robots in a world where humankind is subjugated and machines are worshipped as the new gods.
