Nicola Verlato is known for his socially engaged paintings and sculptures that use the strength and ability of figurative art to emotionally involve the viewer. In order to further empower his images, he uses an articulated process that combines classical techniques as well as modern technologies such as 3D Modeling programs like Maya and Zbrush.

Creating in the style of Renaissance masters, Nicola Verlato uses 3D scans to create a digital painting. The animation is content for an augmented reality app which triggers experiences when particular images are found in The Merging painting.

Through the use of The Merging app, the artwork becomes an entity between our physical space and the space of the representations, inhabiting our world but also as a portal to infinite explorations.
