Nancy Baker Cahill interprets the human body as a complicated abstraction engaged in a perpetual struggle.
In mediums including drawing, video, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and original sound, she attempts to isolate moments of exertion, violence and stillness—often all at once. The unease of these moments is integral to both her own experience and that of others. Both on paper and in virtual space, her process is deeply physical.
She aims to create an experience of wonder and self-reflection as participants consider the engagement of bodies (their own and the bodies of others) in an ongoing, unsettled contest.
